How Could a Whole-Home Humidifier or Dehumidifier Help You?

We certainly get a full range of weather here in Janesville, IA and throughout the Midwest, and with a climate that changes so frequently and dramatically, problems can occur. For example, during the winter months, the air in your home may become too dry. This is especially true if you have a forced-air heating system. On the contrary, in the summer time, you might have a problem with too much moisture.

While these problems are different in origin, there is one common factor connecting them. At some point during the year, your indoor humidity levels will not be well balanced. Fortunately, there are a number of indoor air quality products that can help keep you more comfortable than just an HVAC system can do on its own. Two of these products are the whole-home humidifier and the whole-home dehumidifier.

When Would You Need a Dehumidifier?

Dehumidifiers work by effectively removing excess moisture from your indoor air. Excess moisture can leave you feeling clammy indoors, can contribute to the development of mold or mildew, and can create a consistent presence of fog on the inside of your windows.

There are a number of other problems that excess moisture can cause as well, such as the destruction of your property and structural issues, if the excess moisture is left long enough. Dehumidifiers remove excess moisture from the air before it can enter your HVAC system’s air flow, making the air dryer and more comfortable.

When Would You Need a Humidifier?

As we mentioned above, sometimes the problem may be that the air within your home is too dry. The good news is, we have a solution. Just as a whole-house dehumidifier removes excess moisture, a humidifier adds moisture to your air ahead of the HVAC cycle.

This extra moisture might be in the form of a mist, or steam. The reason why you want to combat dry air is that it can lead to a number of health problems, as well as property damage like splintering wood and warping wallpaper.
