How do humidifiers and dehumidifiers help your home?

About bypass humidifiers

There are several different types of humidifiers, each with their own strengths and benefits. Our team can help you make an educated decision about the right one for your home. One option is the bypass humidifier. This system uses what’s called a bypass duct to get warm air from your furnace to the humidifier without having the humidifier placed on the supply side.

This warm air flows into the bypass duct, and then into the humidifier in order to create excess moisture. Bypass models are generally more affordable to install than other options, but this certainly depends on other factors. We’re happy to discuss your options with you.

The benefits of fan–powered humidifiers

Fan powered humidifiers are typically easier to install since they require no additional ductwork. As the name implies, this model uses a fan to push air through, and doesn’t need to pull that air from the furnace. As such, it’s faster and more efficient at humidifying than other models.

In addition, fan powered humidifiers use less electricity. While this type of system can be costlier to install, when you consider the energy savings and what you’ll be paying month–to–month to operate such a system, it can more than make up for the initial cost of installation over time.

Steam humidifiers are also an option

Steam humidifiers are usually what homeowners are most familiar with. They work by adding humidity to the air by heating water electrically, until it boils in order to create humidity in the form of steam. The steam is picked up by the system blower, and then pushed through your home’s vents—regardless of whether or not your furnace is running.
