“It crossed my mind this afternoon that today was my 1-year anniversary with Dalton. Throughout the evening I’ve been reflecting on that year. This is more of a running list compiled within the 2–5 minutes of free time I get throughout the evening.
What a great year I’ve had working with everyone. Getting to interact and collaborate with so many talented people on a daily basis has been a treat. It is a thing of beauty to see things happen from calls to sales. Playing both ways for Dalton as a tech and now as an office administrator, most do not realize nor truly appreciate each other’s roles within our daily operation. Because we have surrounded ourselves with a team, problems are quickly resolved.
This company has forwarded me the opportunity to be part of something bigger than myself for the first time since my departure from the Marine Corps. Several outstanding minds are collaborating every day. What a thing to be part of. Growing this company to being a giant is something I look forward to being part of.
Working for Dalton has also offered me more of a sense of purpose and the ability to truly contribute and impact the overall mission of this company. I wake up every morning and begin the thought process of what can I do today, to strengthen this company. Most companies are not/will not invest hundreds of hours and tens of thousands of dollars into their employees. Tools, materials, and maybe marketing yes, but not their employee. Your importance of continuing education, cross-training, personal growth and development, surveying, clothing, and every other benefit is fantastic and will just continue to get better.
We’ve touched on my previous employment before, no PTO, No Holiday, No medical, No company truck, very bottom of “Iowa Average of Pay” for my trade, no organization, no continuing ed, no voice, no vote, etc. You don’t know what you don’t know. I convinced myself that this works and is convenient.
Baseball is my passion and I coach during the season. You went above and beyond last season by allowing me the entire season off. This season will be another level now with me able to contribute remotely.
I have 6 kids and a stay-at-home wife. Because of this opportunity, my family was able to make an easy educated purchase of a home. My kids’ dream home where the bigs have their own rooms and littles can walk a block to school, my wife’s forever home with a master bath, and my own piece of land. Amazing what being paid a livable wage that’s closer to your worth can do, eh?
I just wanted to reach out to let you know how thankful I am I sent you the Marine Corps birthday text. I look forward to conquering with you and your company over the next decade brother.
