I recently had my A/C serviced and my dryer duct cleaned through my maintenance club membership with Dalton Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electric and Fireplaces. As always, the scheduling process was smooth and the maintenance visit itself was professional and thorough.
Dom was the service technician and did an excellent job. He took his time during the inspection, explained what he was checking, and was very willing to answer questions. During the maintenance visit, he found that the capacitor for the furnace blower motor was testing slightly below specifications and recommended replacing it to avoid future issues. I agreed to the repair after he confirmed the cost.
After the visit, I became curious about the replacement part and looked up the cost of a 5 microfarad Titan capacitor on Amazon. I was surprised to discover that the part itself sells for around $20, while the total replacement charge was over $300 for a repair that appeared to take about 10 minutes.
To be clear, I remain completely satisfied with the quality of service I've received during every maintenance visit and still feel the maintenance club provides excellent overall value. My only concern is the significant markup associated with this particular repair. I would be curious to know whether that pricing reflects some type of lifetime warranty or extended guarantee on the capacitor replacement.
